Close to going for BT's new 2014 upgrade set up. BT replaces the plastic inner fairing enclosures with new braces. BT's website says "Sturdy steel mounting plate replaces stock speaker enclosure". However, Hogtunes' instructions for front speaker installs warns "The speaker cabinets are vital to the fairings structure. DO NOT operate the bike without the speaker cabinets installed!" Which is it?

The new BT brackets replace the pods and structural support they provide.

pretty sure what HT is referring to is removing the pods and putting nothing back in their place. As Montycop05 pointed out, the BT braces replace the pods for structure and mounting the speakers themselves.
Thanks for the info. BT designed braces must be as good or better than the plastic pods.
I'm not sure about the other brands/sizes, but the guy I talked to at BT a few weeks ago said the pods just weren't allowing the 7.1" speakers to really "breathe," so to speak, due to the limited air available inside of them. So these brackets, in addition to providing structural support, really help these speakers put out the optimal performance with their open design.
Speaking of Biketronics, has anyone received their 2014 kits yet? I ordered mine very shortly after they went up on the website last Friday, and they still haven't even shipped yet. "George is getting frustrated!"

I just spoke to Bill two days ago and trust me they're running around with their heads cut off trying to get all these orders out. I don't think they were expecting quite the "flood" of orders they received the day they became available. I told Bill that it was likely due to us crazy audio freakazoids on this thread. He agreed and was very grateful as well. We talked tech for a while and from what I'm getting from him, you guys will be quite pleased with your new gear. BT is also working on some cool upgrades that will add more functions to their product(s) and will be rolling out in the spring. I can't divulge anymore at this point as I'm not sure I have permission too, but I can tell you that when it does come out, your current BT gear will be able to be retrofitted.
Those of you that have ordered don't get your panties in a bunch they're coming! Hell, I can't even order my set up yet as they haven't completely finished the additional bridge mounting bracket for the Pro-Line 7.1 speaker component tweeter in the new brackets. I'm just hoping to have mine in before I leave for a 4k trip in August!

Umm what is this? Pro-Line? Lucy, joo got some splaining to do!
I ordered my setup on Monday and it hasn't even hit the card yet. I'm wondering wtf myself. Thought they were shipping today (Friday).

The Pro-Line are the top-of-the-line HAT speakers. They're the same as the 7.1s size wise, but have a separate component speaker that mounts on a bridge.
