i have a SE 103ci on an '05thunder mountain custom cyclesBLACKHAWK 240. i noticed that the motorruns kinda hot(... definitely hotter than my previous HD rides, a '96 1340cc and '03 1450cc road kings...). so i installed an LCD dipstick temp gauge, and peak temps, aftercruising, run between 230-240F range. now i know that off the bat, the SE 103ci is set "lean" to comply with emissions requirements. i'd really like to bring down theseoperatingtemps though. should i:
1. install a vance and hines FUELPAK, to modify the fuel delivery, and thus make it run cooler,
2. install an oil cooler(... which according to some guys on the SE sub-forum, isn't necessary at best, because thecause of the high running temps
is the lean setting of the air/fuel ratio... and i tend to subscribe to this...),
3. do both of the above.
i love the looks and ride of the bike. i like its individuality and HD reliability. if i could make it run cooler, i think it's going to be the bike that's the best of both "barhopper and long-haul cruiser" worlds.
