So I'm officially calling it... ultima carbs are ****.
After months of trying to work with this carboretor I find it's impossible to keep it from leaking. The float is constantly sticking and draining fuel. Between that and leaking bowl drain, I'm done with this P.O.S.
trying to save a few bucks spent all those savings in frustration and lost time.
So what do you recommend, super E or super G?
On that 96" motor, if your looking at High rpm power then the G will do it... If your looking at an every day rider the E is totally capable.. It actually has better throttle response...
The super E is definitely a better choice for this motor, I just have to get it tuned right. There's a bit of a stumble when throttling up, maybe accelerator pump adjustment?
But... jesus christ! why do these carbs leak fuel when I shut down? Got back from a short ride and damn if fuel didnt start running out of the overflow.
Don't any of these carbs come without **** in them? Something kept the float from closing. I shut off the petcock, let it run till it stalled, stood it up and opened the petcock. As fuel trickled out I tapped on the bowl and it finally stopped leaking.
I may be expecting too much, but I think you shouldn't have to open up a brand new carb to make sure there's no debris in it!
