Default Pipe Blueing

I haveThunderheader pipeson my Deluxe that I bought used off of ebay.Whoever had them before me had their engine running too hot and blued the crap out of them. I don't really want to put the heat covers on. I'm wondering, is there any way to take blue off of chrome or is it just an urban legend? I already tried Eagle One chrome polish, Mother's chrome polish, and I even ordered some Boms Away that claimed to do it. None of them worked. Anyone have some experience here?

Thanks,
Spike

That Blue is In the pipe, not On the pipe. No polish or cleaner will take it off.

I had a old Jap bike and used a Product called Blue-gone, it did require quite a bit of rubbing and although it did remove the Blue the pipes had a gold type tint to them.

Typically quality chrome plating is done in three steps. Copper base, then nickel, then a very thin layer of chrome. Sounds like you got clear through to the copper.

There is a product called Blue-job. I have not used it but have heard mixed responses regarding it.

have the pipes powdercoated black and leave the tip chrome it will give it a hot rod look, because that blue is not coming out of yours or mine.
