Just wondering what you guys use for cleaning your windshield. I have been using normal windex, but when I told my dealer about it they told me I shouldnt use it because of the amonia in it. Is this true? Or are they trying to sell me their window cleaner. Been using it on all my bikes for a few years and no problems so far.
RE: What do you guys use to clean your windshield?
I've been told not to use windex, rain-x or anything made for glass on the windshields since they are Lexan, which is a kind of plastic. I use Plexus which, I believe, began it's life as an aviation product. You might want to check the archives as there have bee some very interesting discussions on this on the past, but I don't remember any recently. Art

Novus #1 or Brillianize is for cleaning & polishing acrillic. It also works like Rain-X the way water will roll off, and makes cleaning bug guts easier too.

Here's one to make you laugh, I only use the wifes pledge to clean it, spray it on wait a minute to loosen the bugs and maybe a little assistance to remove the bug with your finger and wipe it off. Just don't bite your nails after this Works good.
RE: What do you guys use to clean your windshield?
Our local dealer told me they use "Bom" on the windshields (they demonstrated for me and was pretty impressive how quickly bugs came off). Personally, i take a garbage bag and lay it down on carpeting. Then i remove windshield from bike and lay it on the garbage bag with rear side of windshield down with dirty side (front of windshield) facing up towards ceiling. I then get a large bath towel and soak it in hot water and lay over top of front of windshield, letting it soak. About an hour or two later i come back with a microfiber towel (hot & wet) and rub off bugs from windshield rinsing microfiber towel a couple of times.. It is absolutely amazing how easy bugs come off. I usually take my cycle drier then and dry completely. Obviously, for a quick clean this isn't practical, but, i like to give my windshield this treatment once a month or so as bugs are really bad in central illinois this time of year. Seems like chemical cleaners always leave some haze or residue (not to mention elbow grease for bug removal) which i don't like. fwiw, mb
