Here's a quick video. She's filthy and the light in the garage sucks... To lazy to move the car and my neighbors probably think I'm wierd walking around my bike taking video
Ok so I've got a couple thousand miles on the new build and the bike has been running great.. Today I was leaving my friends house and the damn thing started pinging... I usually wear earbuds, but today I wasn't, and the first couple hundred miles I didn't wear them because I wanted to keep an ear on the motor. The bike was warm but hadn't got to operating temp yet as I was only about 1/4 mile from his house when I noticed it, only under load. On my way to his house I raced a street bike so to say the least I was on it hard and I didn't hear any pinging, but the bike was at operating temp at that time. So I guess my question is, will low cylinder head temp cause the motor to ping? If thats not the case then I need to get this thing back to the tuner. Either that or chevron had a bad batch of gas...
Well tunes usually don't go bad. Take a look at the plugs. Could be a number of things. I'd go with bad gas. If not the gas it might be an air issue or fuel. Don't know. Mine has never pinged. Just rolled 6k on mine. Rain coming so won't get to ride for a few days.
It should be more likely to ping with higher engine temps, not lower. Tunes actually can go bad, the o2 sensors are constantly trying to change the tune for the worse, I like to eliminate them whenever possible. Not saying that's what happened but it can and does, closed loop sucks.
Man I'm hoping its just bad gas, it's just weird that it didn't do it on the way there but it did an hour later on the way home. I bounced it off the rev limiter on the way there but that shouldn't have hurt anything right? I'll pull the plugs when I get home and check them out

If you have not had any problems till the way back after filling up, just go easy till you burn through the tank and get some better/fresh gas, but that's what I bet it is.
