If you use the HD screws, lock tight them, tq them to spec can they actually work their way out????
If so that is scary. I never really look at them.
I've got almost 60k on mine... they are fine. This is a good piece I think, for those folks working on their own stuff, and may not get the torque/thread-locker down just right.
I have had mine back out 3 times now I no longer worry about it. I use red locktite torque to specs new bolts everything and it happens.
And I am no rookie at this

until now I had never heard of the bolts backing out unless they had been re-used, and mine has 65K miles with the original bolts

Man that is just weird! Could your alignment be out or does the wheel have a wobble?
Had mine back out on a 883 sportster... The dealer is the one who performed the work on it and never stepped up to the plate afterwards... wasn't 5 miles from it when it happened. IDK if the dealer re-used the bolts or what but that seems to be a common issue when this happens.
Tell you what, I will certainly use this if I ever touch the rear pulley. Thanks for link!
Haven't had it happen to me but there are several reports on various forums. I wouldn't say it's common but is certainly a known problem, and worse, there is no root cause identified yet. Those locking flanges are a good idea and am considering buying a set or two myself. They're also available from Lowbrow

I bought extras just in case I have to remove the pulley for something
