I do have to tell myself to go slow a lot - always fighting the urge to hurry because of limited time available because of work, house issues, etc, etc...
i wish i had your patience dude. you really do take the time to do things right
i wish all hd techs at dealerships and indy shops had 1/2 your patience
Thanks hell hound, I do think any HD tech that spent half the time I do cleaning threads would be fired!
Excellent parts, superb installation, top-notch photos! But the Baker comp offset is a bit worrisome ~ hope you are able to find an easy fix!
~
I will let yall know when I figure it out....
Not matter how many times I measure(it's been a lot) I keep coming up with .055" to .060" difference with the Baker recommended max tolerance of .030".
I do want to say that my previous statement about the Evo clutch basket measurement being different from stock was in error. This morning I noticed that the starter ring gear of the stock basket is indented where I took my measurement and the Evo is completely flat.
So I basically do not know why my alignment is out of tolerance, it still could be some difference with the Evo vs stock that I have not figured out. I have already double checked the installation of the Bandit hub and it appears perfect so it is what it is.
Baker says it varies from bike to bike. Some comps have to be machined for hat and others don't. It all depends on you bike. I assume it's from the model number stator and rotor
As always and as usual... nice work Alan.. very informational.. well documented. Your adherence to detail is laudable and exactly how I do things when I wrench... and it will ALWAYS make the difference in the end with the finished product.
Patience was never in my vocabulary when I was a youngster.. I live by it now..

Thanks, I always appreciated all the Threads that taught me. This is my first Harley and I have never been that mechanical prior to starting my mods on it. This Forum has taught me a ton and I do hope I help others out too!

Well Mark told me to send the motor extension shaft in. He said they will most likely mill off .040" to keep the wall thickness of that end flange safe. That will put me well into spec.
Shipping the part this afternoon, hoping for a quick turnaround. Mark said they had no extra motor extension shafts to use(all spoken for) so I had to ship mine to them. If they are as fast as he is with PMs, wont be long. I have to leave tomorrow for a 4 day trip so would not been able to finish for awhile anyway.
