soft 02 in an earlier post somewhere told me to use Play-Doh on the oiling tray and then I can place the outer primary in position and the imprint in the Play-Doh will tell me where and how much to grind:
The imprint indicated that not a whole lot of grinding was necessary. Some benefit to the milling of my motor extension shaft was the increase in clearance of the new comp with the oiling tray.
Anyway I started with a Dremel but ended up just using a metal hand file and finished it off with some Emory cloth and a nice cleaning:

Your 'documentary' is so impressive, as usual! Your attention to detail, expert workmanship, photos and written descrips are quite informative, and the 'tips' you include as you figure out the pitfalls and work-arounds will be invaluable to other DIY-ers who choose to travel down this same exact road. Thanks for sharing!

Man, it seems like a long time since I have seen this:
Bandit recommends 14 oz but seems like +2 over is common so I went with 16 ozs - Spectro Golden Gear Lube SAE 80.
Doing a little baby sitting right now but should fire it up in a couple hours!
Cranked it up, everything sounded good, did not notice any new sounds. Punched down like I usually do to 1st gear and could not believe how eaisily it went into gear - really felt like I over did it on the effort used to select 1st, I will need to lighten up.
During the ride I just felt like shifting was more click click click instead of clunk clunk clunk. I also could not believe the light effort required on the clutch lever, out of habit I keep grabbing the lever with the old strong pull and the lever would just slap in to the grip - going to have to lighten up here too!
Now the thing that has been probably bothering me the most - shifting into neutral from a dead stop. No matter how I adjusted the old clutch, I always had a difficult time going to neutral from 1st or 2nd when at a dead stop - not now, stopped about 3 different times and no problems at all. Guess I can stop worring about selecting neutral before I come to a stop anymore.
That's about it for now, if I learn anything else I will update. I know I need to log a lot more miles to be more qualified to give an accurate review, but for now I'm super happy.
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
The initial click into first was very easy and smooth.
