Robby great post, I've been busy and havnt been on much. We did our 57 cams around the same time and couldnt believe it when I started reading this.

Have to ask, does it still sound like it did before the dyno? Man if so I have to say that sounds great. Good job on the build all in all I would say very successfull at this point. If you ride it and it feels stronger, smoother, better than its all good. I get about as much enjoyment working on mine as I do riding and I think you do as well. Must be the adrenalin rush of anticipation and if it will blow chunks or runs right? haha

Anyways I'm also back at it and kicking things around. Was going to wait and do a 117 or 124 but dont have that money right now and I'm bored and could use change. We'll see what comes of it, but likly Ill stay with the 57s, do a mild street port and try to push compression some more. Today I'm at a measured 184ccp w/.027hg @2900ft. Would have t have the heads decked as well, but not sure how much more I can go and not run into stack clearance issues. Looking at ~$1k will I even notice it?

Hey Rgr! Yup definitely the fun of the build keeps getting to me, of course now that I've touched practically all areas I'm kind of at a loss for what I may do next year. It's been a fun learning experience. Even though I'm happy with the tune and all (yup it still sounds pretty good even after) I continue to wonder if I messed something up. I picked up a compression tester while traveling these past few days and will try it out today to see. Who knows maybe I missed a tooth or something in the cam timing although I doubt it (I did finish the cam chest at 2am after all)! Definitely some headwork would really add to the HP with the 57's while still reasonable on the wallet.

Great job Frederic! Did you get any pics while you were doing the headwork, was it more difficult than doing similar jobs to cars?

Hey Robby,
The ported head will be on the 107 (or maybe 110 keeping the 57H?) build i'm planning... I'll post pics when I start, but once all the calculation done (throat and intake diameter), the porting itself is like on a car head.
I know i'll be doing the job a second time, but can't afford a bigger build right now...

Very important to have a strong, charged up battery during the compression check and leave it hooked up to your battery tender/charger when doing the check.

I read your Thread over at HTT, so yes you need those ACRs turned off for the check. I never thought about using the throttle lock for the test - seems possible, I used a pvc fitting of some sort to keep the throttle plate wide open.

I did about 3 checks per cylinder and took the average. Will be interested in what you get!

If interested, here is a long HTT Thread of mine about doing a compression check - some good info to be had:

Thanks Alan, going to read it now! Weird posting on that forum sometimes, I don't want to sound like a moron, I know I should just be ecstatic about the build and overall I am but I just can't help but wonder if I'm missing something!

do you think you should try a cam which may change powerband to the left a bit?

Yeah maybe. I was thinking of doing that next season. Any suggestions (don't say Andrews 57's lol!)

Compression was pretty good 195 rear 190 front. Now I need to learn how to turn the ACR's back on

Sometimes I have the same thoughts...trying out new cams, I have thought about the Genesis 577s - might be a good considersation for your bike too.

Maybe I'll just wait to see if you go for it....

That would be my 3rd set in 2 years, and of course I've now gone into the chest 3 times as well!

Hey Alan, any idea how to turn the ACR's back on? They were disabled by the dealer after I had the first compression check done. Now that I've completed the check I imagine I should turn them back on but can't seem to find out how (unless of course it's in the SM, I haven't checked there yet).
