Looking forward to seeing the results. I am doing cams shortly, in my '15 Street Bob, had the 57H in my Road Glide and they were great. Probably going to do cams and heads in two phases. Cams now, and hopefully Hillside Stage II in the near future. Any idea how the Fueling 574's would be as a bolt-in only for now? Those CR575's have caught my interest as well. Good luck with the build.

Finally got started this morning. Has taken 2.5 hours just to disassemble stuff way longer than I was hoping. Exhaust was a bitch to take off, was hoping to keep the heat shields on but ended up taking one off and loosening the other.

Tank was ok, I was nervous about cutting the crossover line. One of my clamps didn't work so well and as a result I had to sit there holding my fuel can under the cut line. Overall not so bad.

I think my biggest problem is going to be remembering all the connectors to the throttle body!

Another problem was that my air cleaner back plate was broken on both sides. Will call DK Customs on Monday to see if they can send another.

More updates later!

This garage is much smaller than our old one, gotta move the golf cart outside

Clamp on each side of crossover. Hoping to clamp/cut then drain one side at a time. It half worked...

Tank off, need to get the old hose off and drain the other side. I had less than a gallon in there.

Broken back plate in my DK Custom and discreet breather. Must have been excessive vibration or too tight

The throttle body wasn't as hard to get off as I thought it might be, but really tough unplugging all the connectors with my stubby fingers. I wonder if it would be easier to plug everything back on before I replace the rocker covers?

I'm also kind of toying with the idea of installing the new heads, putting the top end back together (minus push rods), and then doing the cams. Mostly just for cleanliness and not forgetting anything. Any reason not to? No areas of duplication I dont think. My pushrods are quickees so they can be installed with heads on and lifter covers on as well.

Thoughts?

Throttle body out. I should have taken pics of all the plugs. Also removed the horn and top stabilizer

New throttle body on the left. SE 50mm with 4.9 injectors I believe

Covers off. Now at the park with my son for a bit and then back at it!

Robby - a Dymo label thingy is your friend. However - on the throttle body connectors, they are all different so you actually can't put it back together the wrong way....

On the crossover, you will probably take the tank off several times while doing this job and being happy with putting it back together.....plus you may also want to take the tank off many times during your ownership of the bike. So my advice would be to install a quick disconnect coupling to make that much easier.

One word of caution though. I bought a cheap plastic one and it leaked like a bastard. I would have bought a decent metal one, but can't seem to get them here in the UK.

I ended up just removing the metal clamps from the crossover and pulling one end off while sticking 3/8" ID (i think) silicon tube over the free spigot and the other end of the crossover and running those to a fuel container. Works fine and easier than cutting and clamping. Then when I re-fit the crossover, I just tighten it up with heavy duty cable ties pulled really tight with a wrench. When you want to get it off again, just cut the block off the cable tie and wriggle it loose.

Great advice thanks! Where can I get the quick disconnect? Also, when you say cable tie, do you mean the black plastic zip ties? Do They have enough hold to make sure the crossover doesn't come off the spigot with vibration?

You want something like this:

Do check the diameters though - I am half drunk and just googling....

Looking good Robby! Sucks about the intake let us know what dk says. I wouldn't worry about the tb plugs, they'll kind of naturally fall back where they were and like it was mentioned, each plug is different, just don't forget any of them. Those quick disconnects have a habit of leaking but that metal one looks to be better quality then I've seen before. If it were me I'd get a new piece of hose and a couple clean clamps and just put it back together. It's not a huge deal to drain the gas to pull the tank, you get better at it the more you pull it. The key is having it as empty as possible

The front and rear cyl. fuel injector plugs are identical so make sure you know what one goes where.

You can do an entire top end removal on a Dyna without removing the gas tank or draining fuel, FYI.

Thanks. Slight hiccup don't have the tool to remove the auto compression release solenoid. Was going to bring the heads to either dealer or nearby Indy to ask them to do it. Unfortunately there is one bolt on the rear rocker box that I just can't get a weeny on well enough to loosen. Half inch but right under the backbone so I can't fit even my small socket. Open ended wrench the flats are at an angle where I can't get a good grip. Going to see if I can find a super slim closed ended one tomorrow.
