Hey everyone! I'm planning on getting a new Wide Glide by the end of this month. I've decided on a black one, but they are hard to find. I like the 2016 models with the high output motors with the different cams but the only place I can find a black one is 3 hours away... but its a 2015 model. I like how the new cams sound, but do you guys think I should hold out for the 2016 or possibly get a good deal on this left over 2015? It's from a dealer that claims to sell tons of bike through out the year so would there be a reason this 2015 has not been pick up yet?
What do you guys think??
First, any dealer should be able to order the exact bike you want. They would either get it from another dealer or straight from the factory. Since you have a month or so I would say order the 2016 they way you want it.
Second, if the 2015 is truly new, meaning less than 10 miles on the odometer, a full factory warranty, and you can get a reduced price then go for it.
Thanks for the reply! Dealership said the 2015 wide glide has around 80 miles on it. I'm assuming from test rides. I think I'm going to stick with a 2016. I like the sound of the new cams a bit better. I may just have them order one from the factory. I wonder if they will be less willing to negotiate the price if they have to order it?
I've listened to a few videos on YouTube of the 2016 high output motors vs the 2015 regular 103s and I gotta say I really like the somewhat choppy sound of the 2016 high output
I waited over three months before actually getting my bike. It kind of sucked because over that time, I pulled money from my "Harley fund" for other things... But in the end I got exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for a used bike, so it is kind of a different type of searching... But I would always advise to get what you really want. Whether that means a bike you have to wait for because the lumpy cam, so be it! If you don't, you may never be fully satisfied.. just sayin. Good luck! let us know what you decide!
UPDATE! Dealership got in touch with me yesterday and found one in the next state over! They are going to get it as I type! Going in tomorrow to sign the papers on my brand new 2016 wide glide in vivid black! Now this is my first time ever buying a bike from a Harley dealer. Is there anything I should know or look out for?
