The battery IS tapered, which is kinda irritating, but I plan to add some rubber bumpers that should help square it up and prevent shifting, rattling, and abrasion.

We'll see. I still need to add the trickle charger port so things are getting tight in there.

Got the trickle charger port today but it's not gonna work for me. Too bulky. If anybody is interested in it, let me know.

I did some more digging and ordered some XT60 connectors and matching panel mount. I'll have to figure out how to weather-proof it, but I'm familiar with the connector and know it will do the job nicely.

XT60 on left, XT30 on right. The 60 will hande 60 amps, which is PLENTY, but the XT30 is simply too small to grip (I use the 30 on my LiPo RC stuff)

Optimate O20 panel mount. Rated for 10 amps. (The Optimate charger outputs 9.5A) Requires 1" thru-hole. Weather-tite SAE connectors on both ends. I was going to cut off the pigtail connector and splice in ring terminals to direct wire to the battery. Would fit nicely on the early Dyna ignition switch panel under the seat but I'm already using that.

Looks like it would be good for a hard bag mount. Where are you wanting to put your port, the battery cover?

Ghost, I don't have unground welds showing right now but I still have a lot to do on the tank. I'll get some shots then.

Others, I ordered two different mounting options for the XT60: panel mount and boss mount. I haven't completely settled on where I'll put it. Originally I planned on putting on the rear of battery box (tire side), but this connector is small enough that it opens up some other locations. I'll need to play with it once they arrive.

The Optimate port has a max OD of 1.7" and protrudes 1.1" from the panel surface.

The bare XT60 is like 5/8 x 1/4 and the panel mount option sits about 1/8 above the surface. Not sure about the diameter of the panel mount. Maybe 1", give or take. Never used one.

Sorry I'm moving so slow. The weather has me demotivated now and over the summer I had too many other things going on.

I hear ya man. It’s getting super cold here in New Hampshire. I think the bike is going into storage after this weekend. We’ve got a big run Saturday and that’s it.

I'm just outsid the big lake-effect areas and our weather is extremely variable. It's not uncommon to have a few scattered riding days over the winter so I haven't completely written off getting in at least a shakedown run yet this winter. I'll be travelling most of December, but there's plenty of winter left after that!
