CGGorman's 99 Wide Glide build thread
I sanded the metal to give it some tooth, then cleaned with acetone, applied two thin coats to each surface, waited for about 40 minutes, then pressed in place and finished with a mallet. I can't get the leather loose with my bare hands. Had a few moments of concern where my initial placement was off. Thankfully I was only doing very small sections at a time. Toothpicks were used as spacers to aid placement. Variation of a trick I learned doing laminate counter tops.

I may add an additional bond with the trim piece but the rivets are only 1" apart so there is a tremendous amount of clamping force, even without the cement.
Hopefully it works out. Drilling out all those rivets would be a major pain.
ETA, I had trouble keeping the plastic sheet from sliding around during test fittings, so I used a few dots of cement here and there (6 total) to stick the plastic to the batting. Seems to have worked OK. I can't see any print-through.
The top is pulled away from the base in the tailbone curve but I suppose it will stretch with riding.

One of mine...
Not exactly a fair "healed" pic since this was after three surgeries using the same partially healed incision. That's why the stitch tracks look different. He had to change the way he was stitching it so he could pull it closed. So, this pic shows 4 surgeries.

I'm glad to hear you say that mine looks good... The girl who helped me undress it the other night exclaimed: "Oh my god! Did you research this guy? It looks all hacked up!"
Today:
That shoulder is a mess. I have pretty good range of motion but the muscular damage combined with the reverse implant mechanics means that it's quite weak in some directions. I don't have any lingering pain to speak of but the daily routine will never be the same. I've adapted for the most part. It's all good.
If I had to guess, I'd say you'll probably forget you've got spare parts most of the time. My hand injury was similar to your clavicle and it came back really, really good. Some occasional pain in the knuckle but it doesn't slow me down at all. For months I couldn't even get the gas cap on/off my car. Now it's basically good as new, if a little crooked. Just got some extra metal in there. I suspect you'll be the same.
