Default JP has wrong fork spring part #'s

I ordered a pair of Progressive brand heavy rate springs for my 2003 FXD front end. Ordered from J&P. Gave them the bike info to place the order and I had looked them up on J&P site prior to ordering and the numbers matched. I went to install them today and the spring that came out was a progressive wound spring too. No way of knowing the brand. The old spring had no spacer but came right to the top of the extended tubes. I put the new spring in the tube and cut then placed the 2.40 spacer on the top. It was impossible with the stiffness of the spring to get the spacer length into the hole and seemed there would be no reason to need this much preload. I called J&P for tech support 30 min wait so I called progressive. Progressive verified the part number but said it was not the part number for my FXD and they never made a heavy rate spring for my Dyna or others with the narrow glide 39mm tubes and 28 deg rake. Only the FXDL with the 32 deg rake has a heavy spring set avail. The last call was to J&P tech support and the guy answering the phone sucked. He was bitchy and offered no help. The sales guy that put me through to tech support also verified the part being correct as well as the tech guy said I had the right part. I wonder how many improper fork springs were sold and installed because of this. The guy at Progressive said there are no workarounds for this and not to ride the bike with this spring spacer set installed. I installed the springs with a 1 inch preload added fluid and put the caps on. Took the bike off the jack and it held the height. Took it for a ride and it seemed better then with the springs I took out. Anyone been through this or similar and could there be a downside? I wanted to call Showa but couldn't find a USA contact number. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

I never posted an update to my order since these threads keep getting locked. Ordered 2 carb kits for a Kawasaki Vulcan, took 18 days to arrive with never getting a shipping notification. Kits they sent were wrong and for an old KZ Kawasaki. The only part in the kits that was correct was the float needle. $70 down the drain since I am not about to try and return these. J&P has lost me as a customer and in years past they were my goto!

Their site is catchy and if it worked right is retard proof..They sent some hand control levers with no neutral safety switch tab on em. I quit using em after that.
