guess i should be thankful for the fails that came when trying to order the speedo. took a ride over to the dealer this morning to place the order. 70900699 was the uk version. 70900697 is the USA/MPH version. worked out but, paid retail... boo
dealer got it ordered for me today.
they will be sending me the wiring diagrams for the 2018 too. think i will have to stay on them for it.
If you want the wiring diagram (all softails are basically the same), you can find it on the HD website. A full wiring diagram / parts book is available on line.
Follow the instructions in this post from joebotics:
you will find it under "Front Lighting and Hand Controls: 2018 Softail" and scroll down a bit.

I went looking for the Owner's Manual... and it seems there is just one Generic Owner's manual for all Softails... no specific manuals for each model.. Also.. it does not seem like you can download the entire manual... you can view it online.. but to download it then you have to print each section individually.. pain in the butt .. I hope this helps.

fxd signal does not appear to get back to the ecm/bcm. going out to test on the pv.
... confirmed. no fuel signal other than fuel pump volts. and it returned null. new bike read fuel from pump to ecm, ecm tells gauge the level through bus. not sure how to work this magic here. fxd seems to have a loop that is contained between the pump, speedo and worthless gauge.

i'm glad too. not sure what is was thinking the on the first go round just looking at the connections and not the wiring. sloppy... it's a clear fail unless there is a fuel pin at position 9 on the gauge ... which there more than likely is not.
guess i should have done it a while ago. the grease i used to hold the ***** on the ramp was all in the fluid ... it looked like anti-seize.. all shimmery. i was baffled for a minute but, the light bulb went on eventually.
