Second part of your question.
If youâre comfortable with riding mid controls keep them
and get highway pegs for an option to stretch you legs on long hauls.
Iâm 5-10 with a 30â inseam and I would be hard pressed to reach
the forward controls if I was too much shorter. http://www.putfile.com/pic.php?img=5472890
Second part - I have a 29" inseam and midcontrols work just fine for me even with new 1" lower rear shocks. I like my hiway pegs for a change of position and cruising on the hiway, so sorta best of both worlds to me. Nice to be able to vary positions and avoid cramping/fatigue on long rides. I just find the pegs a bit short - feet are big (size 13) and tank is so wide, my feet are not always fully on the hiway pegs (?) so I'm looking into some sort of short extension or a bit longer pegs.
First part - just put the lower shocks (11" Progressive 412 HD) on the rear and swapped out the front springs for Progressive stock height but cut down the included 'spacer' about 3/4" to somewhat level out the bike. Also put on a SE Fork Brace. Raining now and doing a few other mods this weekend, but should be able to get some pics up in a few days. BTW, love the ride, control and handling now - huge improvement but not overly stiff (though some) or harsh riding solo (190 lbs) as others seem to report.
Another question. Does anyone have an opinion on putting highway pegs on over converting mid controls to foward controls?
Get the two position highway and shift with your heal, kinda like spurin a horse on the up shiftin. The shifter sits against the back of my boot so to down shift I just push my heal down. As for the brake same as down shiftin.
lowered the frt end of my dyna by sliding the frt tubes up through the triple trees about 1 1/4 inchs. rear with progressive 11 inchers.
as far as forward controls go, i first put on a set of highway pegs to see how i liked them and for some reason i can't reach mt right side highway peg. maybe the aidcleaner sticks out too far, maybe my right leg is 2 inches shorter than my left (although i don't lean when i stand upright). so anyway, i just removed the rightside highway peg and keep the left on. when i have my foot on the left highway peg i shift with my heel. heres a pic of the bike lowered.
clayman, I'm 6'2". Do you think it would bother me by lowering both front and back ends? I love the way it looks. I don't see why it would bother me at all. Thanks for all the replies guys.
Im 6-2 also. The only time i notice a difference is when i put a lower seat on which places you closer to the pegs unlike when you lower the bike everything basically stays the same as far as feet position. I go back and for from the mids to the highway pegs, ive always had forwards with other bikes but i gotta say that the longer i ride with these mids the more they grow on me.
