Cooling a WG
Data point 2: Test the oil filter
Attempt 1 results = No joy
Rollin along fat.., dumb and happy - out of nowhere - hit by a turd floater
Raining hard enough I pulled over and installed the socks - still spittered and sputtered like a bitch
As it not my intent to introduce impactful extraneous influences to these results - not posting today's - will rerun test 2
Weatherman just said it only supposed to get hotter this week - we got time

I am very interested to see what your results are with the PCS4C; what is it really bringing to the table in the stock location.
But you know, Ghost? You missed on one cooling mod; you could have tested the PCS4C, and then mounted an oil filter relocation and tested again to put that all to rest once and for all...
I installed a permanent filter- one of DKs offerings with a very ugly Jagg 10 row fan assist vertical mount ( turns me on when the fan comes on at a stoplight after hard freeway run, and then goes off;run by thermostat, must be some cooling happening ;>)
While a totally subjective observation, I can say with complete confidence that cooling is taking place- before install, my oil, whether syn or VR1 conv. would be cooked ( blacker and thinner) after 2K of running; now looks good at same miles of run time, even after extended trip down south in 100+ ambient temps. Bike also makes less valve train noise, seems to be from better oil flow due to perm filter install, along with a mild but definite improvement in power. weird thing, take a run, bike is fairly hot, shut her down and bike seems to get hotter after a few minutes of sitting off, before oil cooler install was other way around.
Totally buy that engine damage, however mild, is occuring on stock twinkies when they get too hot ( anytime ambient temps over 90 and u r sitting in slow traffic). Lost a valve guide/broke valve spring on my scoot last year ( SS 583 cams with stock springs and guides, Hmmm), don't think it would have happened using this set-up, as she would just get clankity clanky when hot before, not very much at all now.
Anyways keep up the good work, man
So.., and even if it has to carry over to next summer - this will get tested and reported
Need a 95 degree.., or hotter day for test two - four
In the meantime - drinking / smoking lamp lit

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
Air Temp 93 degrees (7 degrees cooler than when I ran the initial baseline)
Results = no cooling improvement that I could detect (comparison pics)
Need to hook up the oil cooler for test 3 - however I seriously doubt it'll happen this year- running out of hot days
If it doesn't - there next summer
