I am considering getting a windshield and need some advice on the Memphis ShadesFats model. Is anyone running this windshield on a HD Lowrider? If so, what height (15', 17', 19'), tinted or clear? I am 5'10' and would rather not look thru the windshield but just above the windshield. Any majorpros orcons to this model of windshield. Also, is the Fats model too wideortake away from the Lowrider appearance. I have seen some comments in the general discussion sectionbut none relating to the Dyna's or Lowrider's. Thanks forany help.
Well I hada Memphis Fatson my lowrider, but it was an 87 FXLR. Not a Dyna, but close enough. Anyhow, I believe I had the 17" tall and at 6ft 2 inches it worked well.Spend the extra for the quick detach mounts so you can take it off when needed. Quality was great and I had no issues with my shield. i hope this helps.
I've got a MS Fats 19" gradient blue with blue lowers on my Superglide. I really like the way it looks on the bike. The new quick detach hardware works great. I'm 6'1" and the 19" puts the edge just below my vision line, so probably 17" would be right for you.
i have the slim 17 and im only 5-8 and i got alot of helmet buffer when i rode from ky to fl to myrlte beach bike week and back to ky.
i wish i would have bought the fats
i had to raise it up as high as i could and stand it up as straight as possible to get rid of head buffer.
2600 mile trip on a bobber now that was a ride i wont soon forget
Get a sheet of Plexiglass and cut out your own larger shield using the Slims as a template. Then attach the hardware from the Slims and then you have your own version of the Fats.
I like the height of the Fats, but did not like that it covers the turnsignals, so I went with the Slims
Don't want to hijack this thread but I have a question please. I also have the 'Slim' on my '02 Dyna. Leaves a bit to be desired when I'm on the I/S or open road for an extended period of time. Will the 'Fats' fit the same docking hdwe as the 'Slim'?
