Default Which frame is going to work?

Hello ladies and gents. I am finally ready to get back on a Harley and I would very much love to get my hands on an FXDXT. That is probably not going to happen, so I would be getting a new scoot and starting from there. I am very into the club theme as both my previous dynas(14 DB and 15 DL) were personalized in that fashion. I am leaning towards the FXDL-S as a starting point. My complaint about the DL/DL-S is the rake of 30.5 degrees. I know that the DX/DXT had a rake of 28 degrees and the DB is close at 29. My question is are the frames of the DB and DL/DL-S the same and the rake comes from the triple tree? If that is the case, I can easily swap out the stock triple tree on the DL-S for a DB triple tree. If not, I would be either looking at frame modification(expensive) or going with an FXDB. Does anyone know? Of course, anyone who has a T-sport, I've got the cash right now! Any help is appreciated!

If I remember reading correctly the frame between db and dl is the same. The trees create the additional take. You could use db trees just get the newer ones that don't have the integrated lower riser. You could also use fxdc trees from a superglide custom, might find decent priced used ones.

Part numbers for both frames are 47745-06B

personally i like the rake of the dl, more stable blasting on the highway

i have had a fxd and dl and its funny setting the fall away and how differnt the specs are. The dl allows for much more travel in spec than the fxd. fxd seems to need to be pretty tight to handle right, which is why i had a steering damper on my 06

also i really like the rigidity of the 49 mm front end off the 06 and up and to me the frame it better (heavier but better) so i think you are better off retrofitting a new bike to your "fxdxt style"

many will disagree with me

Thank you for clearing that up. I would definitely want to stay with the 49mm forks. A steering stabilizer is a must, I feel. I can get DB triple trees pretty cheaply.

Food for thought here...

I built an FXDXT style based on an '01 FXDWG frame specifically to get the extra rake of the wide glide frame.
The rake makes the bike a little less "flickable" but it greatly improves the highway speed stability.
The bike handles magnificently in the twisties and is rock steady on the highway.
I have ridden this bike many miles at 100+ MPH and have never had even a hint of a wobble.

It's not on spacers, it's a DevFab repop with the OEM style gearbox.
I have run it both ways and I prefer the setting you see in the pics....Pretty much eliminates any buffeting.

I'm thinking of getting a windshield with a recurve, just to see if it makes a difference.

Nothing like an original though. 608lbs as pictured with 1/2 tank of fuel. Still being enjoyed by another rider
