My names Kristian, im a new member to this site so hello to you all. im after some advice and opinions.
Ive had my FXDF fat bob dyna for two years now and am looking to change the twin light to a single conversion. i know theres a bit of work involved in swapping the buckets. can any one offer any help on how to do this? ive heard i need to drop the fuel tank off to access the loom? seems a bit drastic.
also im looking at getting the 5 3/4 inch but it appears a lot of people go for the 7inch, will the look really small and silly (i know its personal opinions).
Pretty much anything can be done and I guess only you need to be satisfied with the end result. Consult the wiring schematic in your service manual for which wires you'll need to work on. Then compare that to diagrams of the single light FX models. It shouldn't be a difficult swap. Then again depending on what year your bike is I wouldn't put it past Harley to build in something that prevents you from modifying the electrical system. G'luck.
yea i want to make sure its completed to a high standard as like anyone else the bike is my pride and joy, i can try and get hold of the wiring diagrams, shouldnt be to hard to match up. just not sure where to start looking for the kits or what mounting accessories are required.
Harley can do the conversion but charge $900 for it which is way to high in my opinion.
I recently converted my FXDF to a single headlight in anticipation of my fairing install. I have been riding it like this for a bit and I love the new look. This is a std 5 3/4 headlight from a sporty. Changes the look of the bike. Pic.
If anyone wants help making the conversion let me know, I struggled with it forever only to find the easiest way ever to do it without snipping wires.
