Default Rear Pad Pin?

After removing old exhaust prepping for install of new I noticed rear brakes should be replaced. I get a set of new pads and when I start to remove caliper and pad pin I realized I do not have the "socket" required to remove the pad pin. What style and size of socket is this? It is not a normal 12pt bolt.

Sitting on my thumbs now. Thanks in advance.

not sure what bike you have but 1/4 12pt on a wrench works fine on my 2012

Yep, 12 point 1/4" for my 2012 switchback. This size was recommended by a dealer tech. Be sure to check your old pin, mine was quite worn. Some pad kits include a new pin, I ordered mine separate.

Yes, lube it with break grease. Just a slight smear. It does not drip. I personally think it makes sure everything slides till all is deburred and burnishes metal with dust that collects on it. It will be long gone by the time of next brake job.

since we are talking about calipers, I ALWAYS loctite (blue - 243) brake calipers bolts on cars... and i find curious that they say don't loctite them on our service manual ?
