Default Forward controls question...

I finally scratched together enough change from the sofa and ordered some forward controls. I have a quick question for those of you who have done this switch yourself. What do I need to do about the mid-shift linkage? I've seen the chrome cap that comes with the harley kit, but that doesn't appeal to me. What do I need to do to remove the mid shaft and lever, and then cover the hole?

This seems to be a big deal, seems like some folks get mad when it's posted. I did it and it worked great!! (Click link)

The new kit from Harley for the 06 - 07 Dynas gives you a flat plug for the hole but you have to remove the primary case to get the mid shaft out. This looks nicer but it's more of a pain in the *** than the old way. The other thing is if you keep the arm on the tranny in the stock position it puts the shifter arm right in front of the oil filter. I would think you could rotate both arms back during the install to gain clearance for filter changes. Yeah you could just unhook the linkage but I'd rather be able to remove the filter without messing with anything else. Know what I mean?

Thanks for the input. And I hear ya on the filter access. I ordered an aftermarket kit, but I'll be sure to check out my clearance.
