So I recently purchased an 03 dyna super glide tsport fxdxt. Sat for awhile which was clear when I had to clean the idle jet... anyways bike has been running great. Today I jump on her and ride a few miles to get food. I finish and get back on its all good... all of a sudden I pull en the clutch and I here a clinching sound as I slow down. So naturally next time Im coming to a stop I slap her into neutral and same issue. Noticed recently the shifting can be load, but then again Im new to Harleys so i dont know. Help!

No leaks that I have seen... checked the oil while a little warm and its good but dirty... just for clearification I noticed the shifting was loud and hard, even in gear and reducing throttle just a bit will also cause the cluncking to start. Its hard to tell when excelerating if the problem is occurring or not, but I think it might be. Clutch and neutral dont help reduce it when slowing down.

So I really appreciate the comments and help! Spent all night looking things up. I came across a video of a guy I watch quiet often (link below). So a common issue with Dynas is loose bults on the rear belt pulley attached to the wheel. Sure enough the were all loose and some were scrapping. So on My days off Im going to pull them all out and put lock tight on them. Also going to check the primary chain tensioner and change oil.... Im planing on doing three oil and filter changes because the oil is bad. First one Im going to run for a bit. Second Im going to put a cleaner in there (any suggestions??) and final the third. Correct me if Im wrong but the tranny and engine share the same oil right???
If this were my bike, I would remove the wheel, remove all the bolts and the pulley, inspect the holes in the wheel carefully, run a thread chaser through them (not an actual tap), and then replace the bolts and washers.
There are areas of the bike where it's possible I may be a little sketchy with things sometimes and still ride it, but any area that could lead to a wheel-related issue while riding is a different story...
On another note, welcome to the forum... FXDXT is a super cool bike!!!

Try correctly torqueing the bolts that hold the tank on. IIRC, it's 17-20 ft/lbs. Verify with the shop manual.

That sounds like a great idea... how would I know if the threads are bad? Also the video above does say its a common issue so I dont think the threads are bad, unless the bolts rubbed and bent... but I will forsure check it out... thank you
