I am sure this subject has been covered a bunch but I can,t seem to find the threads...so, here is my question. I have a 2016 FXWG and need a new seat, my wife cant ride long on current pad, to narrow. So I'm looking for recommendations for a new seat. I am leaning towards a seat and pillion pad because of the look and this seems to be the best way to get a wider yet low passenger seat. looking at the Danny Grey Buttcrack set-up and a couple options from Mustang and Saddleman. So, what is everyone running and why? Thanks for any input.
Saddlemen Step Up. Get's comfier every time I sit on it. Absolutely love it. Haven't done any crazy long days on it but I've done several 5-6 hour days and never had a sore ***.
There are tons of threads about this, definitely worth it to do a few more searches to get more reviews. Go on youtube as well. Lots of guys doing reviews on there.
I have a C&C Sport Tour. It's like a squareback but has more room for the passenger.
I put 14 hours on it on Tuesday, no gel on mine. C&C does great work, custom stitching is $25 or so (mine has double diamond to match the wheels). Honestly I'd start by talking with them and telling them you're needs, they're great to work with and straight forward. There is a reason they're always being recommended on here. https://www.ccseats.com/
I have a Danny gray seat and pilon. The only gripe I have with it is that the bracket under the pilon is not designed well so I had to slightly refab it so it wouldnt scratch my fender . It also sat too far forward digging into my lower back.
The seats they make are very comfy (gel version) and would rate a solid 9 , quality I would rate a 7.
Saddlemen Explorer LS is the route I went after talking with them. My wife does a lot of pillion riding on our Wide Glide and she said it was night and day better over the stock seat. If she didn't ride as much as she does with me, I'd have gone with the Step Up, which was my first choice. After talking over options with their customer service, I ended up with an Explorer and happy.
Give them a call and talk with them, their customer service is top notch.
