It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like the cable might be a little rusted where it broke. That'll shorten their life considerably.

As far as length goes, measure the one that broke and go from there.

Not all companies measure the same.
Check their requirements.
Some measure end to end,
some measure just between the ends
Like in your case just the black part.

The one in front is the pull cable.. It's the one that typically breaks..
