Nice job Skip3406, nice and tidy, you would have saved some bucks as all you would have needed was the tacho and tach sleeve, would that have been about $200 total?

I didn't spend that much to do mine.
Black Face Mini Tach Kit P/N 68953-04 Zanotti $95.74
Mini Tach Tapered Gauge Housing P/N 67524-04 Zanotti $15.65
I made the mounting bracket from scrap cost 1 1/2 hr my time and $6 for bolts a spacers
Total $111.39 + S & H

Skip, how did you install your tach wiring. I have a 07 Streetbob and i bought the same tach as you, except mine is the spun aluminum face. I was going to plug into the ECM at pin 3, but there is already a wire there. Then someone said to plug into pin 3 at the speedo. Then someone at the dealer said i can't use it because its not listed as being for my bike. But i see the tach you used isn't listed for your bike either.

They said it wouldn't work on my bike either. Yes I did plug it into pin#3 on the ecm, but I beleive the St Bob has a differnet wiring harness so it might plug in at the speedo. Check the wiring diagram in your service manual, that's how I did mine.
Now that I think about it your wiring harness might be the same as the Low Ride and that might use pin#3 on the ecm go up to the speedo.

That's part of my problem. I was going to plug into pin 3 at the ecm, but there's already a wire there. The wiring harness at the ECM does not match what it lists in the service manual. the manual lists that there should be 6 open spots including pin 3 for the tach, but there is not any open spot on my plug. pls the wire colors don't match to whats in the manual. I talked to a service guy at the dealer, and he said i should not try to plug it in because it could damage the ECM and it probably wouldn't work right. But i've seen tons of posts of people putting in tach's that we're not listed for there bikes. I just haven't come across anyone having the same situation with the harness at the ECM.

I took the easy way out and went with a microTach. I fabricated a small mount that bolts to the right upper tank bolt. It is pretty inconspicuous, but real easy to read when you glance at the speedo.

I just bought the cheap Tach off J&P cycles, it was like $50-60 bucks, and it works great. It just clamps to the bars but it looks fine. I had to buy a $1 "special" crimp on connector at the Harley deale that i had to add to the ECM plug and run the wire all the way up the neck. But it works great.
