Hey Check this out. https://www.hdforums.com/fb.asp?m=2677761Member "Beefy" did it and I did it as well but used the Chrome version of these. Had one on the bike when I installed the chrome switch housings and just bought another Chrome one for $19.95
I used a Rat file rather then a drill. For some reason it went much faster with the File. Harbor Freight drill bits are not the Best.
Finished off the mirror with a couple acorn nuts from Menards Chrome display.

I don't have a good pic of mine so I posted Beefy's Link.

Rick.....Before you swapped out your stock bars, did the signals touch the gas tank?? My bars are stock and the signals touch the tank. I think this problem is a Harley FUBAR design....unless mine is the only one with this problem. I'm thinking whenHarley put the5.1 gallon gas tankon, that's when the problem started. To quote Dennis Miller..."It's only my opinion, but I could be wrong"

Check out harleys new directional relocation kit, its much nicer and streamlined. They also now offer a combined tach/speedometer.

Don,

I don't think so but to be honest, I didn't test them before I took them off. I only had them on the bike for a short time. You've got my curiousity now, I might take a swing by one of the dealerships and see if it happens on a new one.

OK guys I got this kit. Is it as simple as it looks. Any surprises I should know about? I have a 2007 FXDI and plan on mounting signals on the lower 3tree bracket. Do I need new bolts or are the ones supplied OK? Knew to biking and HD. Trying to do some mods myself w/o f---ing things up and voiding my wonderful warrantee.
Any help is appreciated.
Dan

I like personalizing my bike, but what's with the fascination with moving the front directionals? They are one of the looks that is "different" from most other bikes on the road. Also, I think having them up higher makes them more visible to cagers which is a good thing.

Nice catch! For about $20 I decided to see how it would look. One issue is that the small visors on my directionals now interfere with my HD detachable windshield. Back to the original lenses. I am not convinced yet, and they are a bit hidden by the fork bag. Here in MA though, using directionals is like giving information to the enemy.

I liked them up higher too but then I got a windshield. With the lights in the stock position they reflected off of it terribly at night. Moving them fixed the problem.

Dynamite17, Was trolling through these pages trying to get you some info on your mod and saw your post. Just a friendly razz. I do agree with ya on keeping them Higher for the others on the road but I think everyone is way too preoccupied with , Cell phones, Ipods, Nanos putting on makeupand the like to even notice a Bike I general. WTF!!! That is why I moved them to the lower tripple Clamp for my own personal taste.

You're right it is worth a try and Hope you get the issues sorted out with the windshield.

One of the things on my mind is that it removes one more wire from the handlebars.

If you relocate directional/turn signals, does that reduce the wiring going to the grips to be able to wire my 1" H-Dmini-apes internally? I realize I'll have to drill holes for the wire to pass through, as they didn't come that way. Any other drawbacks or considerations?
