I have been thinking about some chrome wheels for my 07 FXD. I want a 18x5.50 for the rear as I would be able to fit almost any brand of tire and not have to use the HD dunlop 180 only---as this is the only 180 tire that will fit the 17 inch rim I now have--(stock).
For the front I am thinking about a 19x3.00 as I could run a tire a bit wider for better stability on grooved roads and such. My question is why do many guys like the 21 inch wheels? and will a 19x3.00 work for the front of my Dyna FXD? I know that I could not go too much wider on the front with the 19x3.00 but that would be OK. Stock is 19x2.50 if I'm correct? What do you guys think???
The OEM front is 19" x 2.5" as you said. I think the 3" would fit, but I don't know for sure.
I just built a 21"for my 06 FXDI. It kind of relates to an old girlfriend I had. This girl was 5'8" and 120 pounds, blond hair, nice tanned complexion. She didn't ride quite as good as some of the shorter, larger boned women I had accompanied, but damn she looked good.
Nice lookin bike ya got there jmpancoast--and thanks for the responce. I think I get the picture as the 21 incher seems to give the HD more of an old school look and those that I have seen with the 21 inch front do look awsome! Guess I need to think about the front wheel size some more as these chrome wheels are spendy for sure! Semper-fi
