all depends on size and weight we ride 2 up alot me 6'190 her 5'5' 130 But I wont kid you 2 up on a road king is nice. I am not aST fan if was going for heritage I would just takke the RK
Thank everyone! I was talking with the wife last night and she thinks I should get a Heritage or a Road King. Neither have I ridden. Hopefully it will clear this weekend and I can get new perspective.
I suggest you find a dealer who'll let you take a ride on a Softail Custom and Wide Glide. Let your Wife sit on the back of them. Then make a choice. Softail has a skinny front tire, like the Dyna's do. Lots of guy's really like the Softail Custom model as a 2 upper
what a bunch of girly men. you let your wife dictate what you ride? come on give me a break . just go buy what you want and tell her to shut up , get on or get left behind . thats what I would do.[sm=trust_me.gif][sm=escape.gif]

Just my $0.02 but if it were me I'd get the Road King. Brakes are better, suspension is easier to adjust and it's more agile thanks to the 26-degree rake.
Regarding Softails versus Dynas, I had an FXST and while I much prefer the lines of the Softail over the Dyna, it's much easier to adjust the preload on the latter to suit what weight you're carrying on the bike that day. There are also more aftermarket suspension choices. For Softails every aftermarket shock available is designed to lower a bike that already scrapes too easy in the corners. For Dynas you can get ones designed to boost the bike's performance.
For what its worth, I bought a new EG Standard in 05, partly because it had the best passenger seat in motorcycling. My wife loved it. I had always felt "in tune" with Super Glides sitting in the showroom, but talked myself into the EG.
Well, after falling over twice (while stopped) the wife was afraid to get on again. So we traded for the Dyna that we should have bought.$ouch$ The handling is MUCH easier, and weighs about 150lb less. The sundowner seat ,while not an EG seat, is still very comfortable for her.
So I sugguest that you go with what feels right. The seat and other things can be easily changed much cheaper than trading bikes!!$$$$!!
jwb47......... either you're not married, divorced or I pitty any woman who associates with you.If you treat a lady like she should be, or how you expect people to treat you, you'll never have a problem with with "toys" you boysmight like to purchase.
I really hope you're post was just in jest.
And tomfuchs2004.......yep, she's a keeper. How about buying her a bike of her own. That's what my hubby did last year, and over the winter, is adding ( after parts and labordiscounts) $3,000 worth of chrome to my Low Rider so I can shine. What a guy!!!
mfuchs2004.......my appologies. I didnt see that she's riding the Nightster. Good for her and good for you. I'm with her on riding on the back. I dont think I would be comfortable either, and that's why I have my own Dyna. It's a little more bike than I really wanted to start my riding career at age 58, but was told if I got a Sportster that after a couple of years, I'd wish I had a bigger bike.
Anyway, I've only dropped my bike once, when I came to a stop and couldnt get my foot down fast enough to balance the bike, and fell over. No damaged done.......thank goodness.Getting it lowered this winter so both feet will sit flat on the ground when I stop. Right now, I can only reach the ground on tip toes, which trying to balance 670lbs on tip toes is tough.I was able to find boots with 3 1/2" heels towards the end of our riding season which helped out a lot....but I need to get it lowered another inch or so. I'm only 5'2" with a short inseam. I cant reach a bike with forward controls even with the Reach Seat. Anyway, It's so nice that the two of us can both enjoy riding throughout the USA and meeting fellow bikers.
