I have a dyna fxdci and I wanna put a 21" wheel on it. Anybody here ever do that ? If so what am I'm looking at in parts and labor not including the wheel and tire.
I am planing to do the same and I have been told so long as you get a low profile tire it is a simple swap. I have not heard how it effects handling if much at all. I would guess the bike would feel grooves in the road surface a little more and you might get a little more play in the front suspension. I do not known but maybe.
I was considering recapturing those two inches by putting a little rake on the front end. It should put the bike back into its current handling configuration except a little change in cornering. I am also planing to eventuallu move to a 180 tire since the rear fender can handle that with no modification.
The diameter of the stock 19" and 21" wheel and tire packages are about 1/2" differance. The 21" wheel is narrower than the 19", and so is the fender. The hubs, axles, and bearings are the same. To do the swap would be a simple bolt in deal.
But the stock 21" wheel is narrower than the 19". And the WG fender is narower to match the wheel. If you put a narrow wheel under that wide fender, it might look goofy. You either have to buy a narrow fender, or a wider wheel/tire combo to make it look right.
I've got a WG with the 21" wheel, and I'd sure like to try the 19 with the fatter tire.... if either of you make the swap and wanna let go your stock wheel REALLY cheap, gimme a shout. ;-)
I am waiting for delivery on an '06 WG and wondering if its possible to swap the front for the wider tire on the other Dynas, either a 21 or a 19. Has anyone heard of this being done? It would require a new fender, but i dont know if it affects anything else
