I bought what is called "easy brackets" which will work with the detachable side plates and back rest. The saddle bags are no longer throw over but attached seperatly to the brackets. Look here---

As much as I'd prefer to stick to OEM parts, I'm going with a detchable backrest from Jardine for my 06' Low Rider.Allows leaving the rear signals in place and will accept Bare Back detachable brackets. Yeah I know they don't lock but Easy Brackets doesn't make a mount that will work and the adjustable Ghostbrackets won't clear the signals without modification. Both Fox Creek and Wiilie and Max Deluxe slants will fit well. It's my final compromise. Not huge bags but worked well for me on my 04' Sportster for several years. Like the signals where they are. By the way, the Jardine parts are nice but not cheap. Good luck.
