Guys,
Just wondering what the best shock set up is for an 06 Bob, I'll be doing some 2up riding (50-65%) and definitely need good shocks, (me=215, she???%140) I know we bottomed out a little on stock WG this weekend. So back to the Bob, I've heard alot about the progressives, I'm guessing HD is the way to go but should I go with the 412's, 418's, or maybe the 812's???? Also what length, I'd like to lower a little if possible...... What is stock???
I'm happy with my 412's but I'm sure the more they cost, the better they are. Get HD's if carrying over 200 lbs most of the time though. I dropped from stock 12.6" to 12" but I think the stockers on the SB are 12". You could go with some 11.5" or 11" depending on how far you want to go. Just a tip - check eastern performance on price. They always ship same day of order for me. I have everything I order from them in 2 days - free shipping.
i have the ones from Eastern performance... love em... i got the bagger lowering shocks.. it was so many years ago i can not recall if it was 11 or 12... i am pretty sure it was 12... i think they come in 13 or 12... then i got the fitting kit from HD for 50bucks BOOM soft as a cloud!
The stock length is listed in the back of Drag Specialties Fat Book.
All the Progressive are good. Your choice between looks and money.
I just bought the 421 11 in HD for my 06 FXDCI. I installed them last night and I'm still adjusting them, but so far the ride is substantially better.
Don
YSS @ 1/2 the price of a Penske. Not as good of a ride and control as a Penske. Much Much better than Progressive & much better than the Works Trackers. If you live near Ft. Lauderdale, take a ride & decide for yourself. Ride than decide. I have them on my 05 LR guest bike.
What is inside. Some of the above brands do not have this quality of build. Take the other brands apart for yourself and look what is inside of them. Than take a ride with a good shock. It is good to understand what you are buying. [ul][*]These shocks do have the ability to re-valve both the piston and the shim pack.[*]It is also possible to remotely add a reservoir and change from emulsified to separator piston/nitrogen system.[*]The adjustable valving (Hi Speed, Low speed dampening and also rebound) is also upgraded with this modification.
