Thanks for your opinions.

I will keep the alarm and save the money some other way.

are you financing the bike??? the alarm only gonna be about 5 bucks extra(or less) per month... If 5 bucks is gonna hurt then you may need to re-evaluating even purchasing a motorcycle (unless this is daily transportation).

figure 20 bucks for every thousand you spend or save give or take a couple bucks...(5 year plan)

Mine came stock with the factory alarm, and I added the siren and pager - as well as LoJack.

The newer alarm systems are based on the proximity of the alarm fob, and will arm and disarm automatically - which is a nice feature.

As others have said, it can lower your insurance rate, and it makes your bike a more difficult target.

The siren and pager are invaluable when your bike is out of sight.

Considering most of us spend a lot more money for other mods to our bikes, I consider the alarm money well spent.

I have the one that came stock on my 06, I never use it, in fact I don't remember how to.Good luck getting the dealer to leave it off though where I live the dealers tack on all sorts of extra crap you may or may not want and refuse to sell you the bike without it.IMO it's useless without the alarm siren.

PS I live and work in small towns with low crime rates and have never had a motorcycle stolen.
I added a siren to my factory alarm on my Ultra myself. I bought an after market siren from radio shack for a total cost of $5.79. The bike chirps when I walk away, and if the bike gets rocked will give you a few back off beeps. Try to move the bike of turn the ignition switch and the alarm sounds. Real easy mod that takes less than 5 minutes.
