I won a bid for a chrome outer primary, part number 60782-06,on ebay. It looks a little scuffed up so I don't know if it will clean up good enough to use but for fifty bucks I thought I'd give it a try.
I'm thinking that the only difference in the primary is that there's no hole for the mid shift peg in the WG primary. Anybody know for sure?
On all the Dynas, except the WG, the inner and out primary covers have the hole for the shifter shaft. The two covers, when joined together form a "tunnel" which houses the shifter shaft while keeping the fluids in the primaries. If you change the outer, you will need to plug the inner to keep the fluids from leaking.
Thanks. I had forwards installed before I took delivery so I assume the hole is already plugged but I'll check that. The outers are the same then, except for the hole for the shifter?

Good Luck

I'm not 100% sure, but wouldn't assume that it is plugged already. You can pull that shaft out and it won't leak using the original cover with the whole for the shaft, but as jmpancoast says, you might need the matching inner primary.
Again, not sure, just guessing from what I have done to mine so far.
Half the tunnel (or tower) from the outer meets the other half of the tunnel from the inner and is sealed with a small gasket (on all 06 and later Dynas except the WG). There would have been no need for the dealer to have plugged the hole when they installed the forwards. You can buy an WG inner to match your new WG outer, but the easy and cheap route is a bolt with a rubber sleeve, or something like an expandable freeze (or even a press fit steel) plug toseal the remaining tunnel in your original inner.
