Default Found Fluid on Floor

After being gone all week, I went and uncovered the bike for a ride. The first thing I saw was about a half dollor size spot of fluid under the back of the tranny. I about flipped out. After checking things out, I found the tranny drain plug almost out. Must have just vibrated loose. Does anybody use blue lock tight on these or is it ok to use it. I have never had the plug back out before. The last time it was touched was at the dealership. I hope this will not be a recurring problem.

LocTite the booger, and be careful not to strip the threads in the case.

I know my mechanical skills are rusty and fading, but isn't the white thread loc for threading thru a fluid passage?

I do all of my fluid changes and my plugs have never backed out.
Just tighten them down good and you won't need any "Loc-Tite"

I agree with Mark, I have never had a plug come loose. Maybe the tech at the dealer didn't get it tight.

Regards,

Bill

I gree with Johnny, I use loctite white 565, High performance, won't break down till 465 degrees and stops fluid. Red, bue and the like hold bolts, but not great with fluid.

Thanks for the info folks. I'm gonna keep an eye on this for now. I tightened it, but I'll keep looking.

Thanks again.

Another dealer mechanic screw up. You're lucky the plug did'nt fall all the way out and do some major damage or cause you to crash.

I like to use liquid teflon on all my drain plugs, properly torqued of course.
