Maybe if I ditch the rubber mounts, it will feel more solid. The bars move almost an inch forward and back with the rubbers on the mounts.
Man! thats alot of movement. I have the 2" spacers under my stock set-up and I get just a small amount of movement. I am planning to go to solid mounts in the future. I have to admit, before I got my bike I used to see bike with apes and think how ridiculous it looked. Now I'm hooked! I love'em that way. Shoulder high or just below, not way above. Now I saw a sporty the other day with some huge bars. That made me chuckle.

I think it all depends on the rider .... what's good for one wont be for another. I've got mini-apes over 3.5" straight risers and my bars are perfect for me. I suppose they would equal the same height as 12.5" apes. I do believe that poly bushings are a must .... they took all the mush out of my bike. And, having ridden a bros '06 Lowrider many times, I do like the feel of my set-up better. I've thought I might try Heritage bars .... as there would be no cable swap, but I like mine enough to stay where I am. The only way I'd change is if I was going for a complete different look on my ride.

Bucket ... look at some Wild1 507's .... drags that are a little higher .... you might like those and they wouldnt require any new cables I dont think.

Any sugestions... do they make polyurethane bushings instead of rubber, or something of that nature?

Hey Bucketass, if you want to stiffen up the bars, I installed the Wild1 thick risers and it made a world of difference, and that is with the stock bushings, plus they look much beefier. You can see them on my mods page on my web site.

Why do I have what on my bike - "Mini-Apes"? That's a Harley term. I imagine if I wanted drag bars for my bike, and ordered them from Harley, I could just ask for a set of "Flat Apes".

As for why I have those particular bars on my bike. That's what it came with. Had it come with real apes, I would have taken them off, and replaced them with either mini apes or flat apes.

my sig for the last 3 months showed apes on the bike....Now, I am positioned like a standard drag setup. This position allow me to feel more in control at high speeds and through corners...
the position is different, obviously. Comfort is the same for me.

I put on 18 inch apes after I bought the SG but soon it looked too large for the bike to me. I wanted something narrow, but tall...so I snagged a set of 12 inch "gimp apes" off of Ebay for about $120....yeah I'm a cheap bastard. Since they are narrow they stil look like they have height.

I have a set of drags/pull backs that are so comfortable it's insane. I highly recommend them and I think they LOOK better too...IMHO of course but...to each his own.

I have 16" apes with 2" riser's. At first it was sloppy with the rubber mount's. Changed it out with polyurethene mount's. Now it is tight. No movement like before.
