I've read 1 or 2 instances where people have had problems with their SEII's. Mine are getting an alarming amount of pitting and blemishes in the chrome. I've bought Taiwan made Emgo repro Triumph teardrop's that have lasted over 5 years and still looked new so this is funny that these particular SEII's are 'going out' in 4 months. No big deal, it happens in any massed produced item ...but I digress, I see this as an opportunity to tinker a bit!
I was going to order the big city thunder SEII baffles but that is out the window now with the condition of these pipes. Who is running the Khrome Werks 2.5" slip ons? I like the idea that these are a bit smaller in diameter then the 3" SE pipes and have a glass packed propritary baffle system. Word is these mufflers are pretty deep sounding; deeper then most if not all the slip on's but not too much louder then the SEII's. Sounds like a good combination to me plus they are USA made. D&D's and Cycle shack might be possibilities but the Krome Werks looks real good. Anybody have some pics to post on this and offer up some detailed info on these pipes? BTW, I'm not interested in a full exhaust system....I like the stock dual staggered factory system.
I have the Khrome Werks slip-ons and am really impressed with the sound.
You are right...they are very deep and powerfull sounding.
I got them off Ebay for $40.00. They cleaned up real nice with some oven cleaner and bolted right on even though they were for a different model HD.
I don't think my baffles have the fibereglass wrapping in them anymore. The baffle system looks like a small baffle inside a larger one. Very impressive sounding...not loud and crappy like some.
My brother bought a set of slip-ons that are a little shorter, but look like the slash cuts. We are going to get the HP baffles and install them to try and get the right sound.
Not sure what they will do for performance. Maybe a bit more on top. Hard to say but they do sound excellent. I head a few bikes with the BCT's in Daytona so a buddy of mine bought a set for his SE II's and transformed the tone of his bike. Glad the map is working well, there are a few here on this forum who refuse to believe that the SERT is working wonders on the closed loop system. Bottom line, my bikes runnin' great. I'll e-mail you any updates to that map.
Mascman, thanks for the reply. I like the idea of their baffle system and the smaller outside diameter. They used some thinking and engineering to come up with that design. Nice stuff. If they sound like I think they will, it will be a good fit for me. I can get a set new for $155 from online vendors. Not a bad price/performance ratio.
If a person, such as myself, is currently running SEIIs w/HD download, do ya think these will require a ANOTHER download? Would be nice if we could hot-swap 'em...
I am running these o my 04 Low Rider. Sound is great, very deep and no louder than the SeII's but soun dmuch better. From what i have read performance wise they are as good a slip on as you can get plenty of low and mid range torque.
I agree totally with you dres22. I wish that my cans were not deteriorating on the outside so bad so I'm not investing a dime in pretty expensive baffle.
