I lost my 80 low rider to a bookie in the late 80,s for 2300. to make a long story short i tried bying it back for 7500( almost 30 years later). at the last min. he backed out and i was pissed. went home turned on the computer went to ebay and found a 2001 low that had everything i wanted. with no Bids and no reserve i waited till 3 sec and bid 5300. watched stunned as no one else bid.... so i won... and boy was i happy. the Bike only had 11000 miles on her
I sold my Honda Shadow about 10 years ago due to lack of time to ride, and had been missing a motorcyle ever since. Went out last summer and test drove a Sportster 1200, but it just wasn't quite what I was looking for. Found a denim blue 07 Street Bob with only 2900 miles on it 2 miles from my house. One test drive and I knew that was what I wanted.
Decided after a 25 year break (long story) to get back on two wheels. My last bike was an 81 FXB Sturgis that was stolen after only 4 month of ownership. Did some searches but could not find any in decent shape. Discovered that HD released a 50th anniversay edition Sturgis on the Dyna platform in model year 91. Did a Cycle Trader search and found production number 89 in Ocala, FL. One look and it was love/lust at first sight. Three weeks later she was delivered to my door in damn near showroom condition. Couldn't be happier!
Bought my '97 Wide Glide in November, 2004 as my buddy was getting divorced - they needed the money for bills. It had 10,100 miles on it and some good mods (e.g. EV27 cams, SE heavy breather, chrome, forward controls, wires in the handlebars) that he paid ~ $18K ~ 2 years earlier. Wound up paying him $9,500 for the bike.
first this happened,
then that happened,
finally dyna! wrecked the fatboy (orange) had the xr1200 (orange) for a couple days back into the stealership and the same guy who sold me both my previous bikes says "hey come upstairs and check out this other orange bike..." needless to say it had 4 miles on it after my test drive and the deal was done. 18 thousand miles since Oct '11 no looking back!
There was a poker run that I wanted my old lady to come on so I let her ride my 06 1100 v-star and I rode my buddy's(mine) street bob. He had had it up for sale for 2 months and not even a phone call.
So we hit the road. Riding out of the city I loved the way it handled. 10 minutes on the highway and I started thinking in my head(how much cash is in my shoebox). So when we got home I told him to wait outside,I counted out 12 grand and walked out to him. Handed him the cash.
He asks me "what's this". I said "you just sold your bike". It had 5000 kms on it when I bought it in July. I put 14000kms on it in 3 months. I just can't help myself.
I had metrics before and when I bought the bike that was it,I just put gas in it and rode it,no mods. With a Harley the purchase of the bike is just the down payment. Hehehe
