Had a RockerC on order when the catalog came out for the '08s. The bike was delayed repeatedly due to "manufacturing issues" according to the salesman. Thankfully so, eh? I kept hounding the guy until eventually his boss wrote to say, "offer him anything else but the Rockers." I had been wearing out the catalog sitting at his desk and kept coming back to the Dyna's. On a lark I threw the catalog in front of him with the CVO page open. A $1000 down payment and 5 months later I had my Dyna and have been completely happy with it. Screw those softtails. The Dyna rocks!
Man I thought I was the only one with this story
I knew I wanted the blue Rocker C since may 2007, finally put a deposit down on one in Oct 2007 (Peterson North). Never got any updates on my order... had to hound the salesman and even then he responded like I was a pest (What the with $5K of my money you better respond!) Well May 2008 comes around and he tells me still don't even have a VIN so I say it is ridiculous he says "come with me" brings me to the finance guy and tells him give him his money back and then walks away! @$$
I go to Peterson South and tell them the story and was looking around at their inventory and the salesman shows me an '08 SB with a screaming eagle stage 1 upgrade and some other extras and an '07 wide glide saying he thought they would be his suggestions. I took the '08 SB and haven't looked back since. I love the SB. Have since been on the Rocker (Peterson South) got one in and let me ride it... didn't like it.
Had decided on a superglide, and walked into a dealer to see a black one. The only thing available was a silver, and I wanted black. Talking to a dealer, we looked at an 07 low rider (which has always been one of my top 3 favorite harleys) and looked at numbers for it. After going back and forth, I took advantage of 2010 models coming out and a low sales month and turned to discuss an 09 low rider.
Now she sits happily in my garage, and I sit happily on my 09 vivid black low rider.
This is my first bike, so I knew I wanted a used one. I LOVE the look of the LowRider. Hubby and I spent a day at a dealer trying everything out and deciding what I wanted. When I settled on a LowRider with mini ape hangers and forward controls, he searched Craig's list until he found one.
Got my 1996 LowRider with 27,000 miles on it for $7,800.

Sweet...Evo LR's are some of my favorite HD's ever built!
Hadn't owned a bike in years, due to a (now ex) wife that was just too afraid that I would crash and die, and I had been thinking about getting another one. I was on my way home from work one afternoon back in April and thought I would stop in and look at the sportsters. After milling about the HD dealer for a bit, and realizing that the sportsters were just too small for me, I stumbled on my 09 SG. Called up my girlfriend (no matter what, you gotta keep momma happy), did some math, and picked it up a few days later. Lovin it ever since!
I have a 883 Sportster and was planning on doing a 1200 conversion when I spotted an 05 FXDX on Craigslist, took it for a ride and decided to buy it. The Sportster is a fun bike but the Dyna is much smoother, better for 2-up riding, handles nice and has decent power.
Great question. Last Nov. 20th I was sitting in the dining area of my Yacht club having lunch- I am an avid sailor and also love bikes. An old friend, who had just shut down his law practice and was preparing for a solo sailing trip around world, walked in to say hello. He was wearing a T'shirt with some logo about Harley motorcycles. I asked him why he was wearing a Harley shirt when he didn't own a Harley. He replied that he did own a Harley but needed to sell it quick. I asked want he wanted for the bike. He gave me a price that was about $3,000 under current market rates in our area. He excused himself as his lunch was ready. For the next thirty minutes I was trying to figure out how I would buy the bike and sell it for a nice profit. I had cash in the bank to cover what he wanted for the bike. As we were ending our lunch, my friend came by to say so long. I told him he didn't have to worry about selling his bike because I just bought it. He asked if I wanted to see it first and I agreed, but I was already sold on the bike and had a check ready. That afternoon I went to see the bike and boy was I not disappointed. The bike was a 99' Dyna Super Glide with low miles, The front fork and wheel had been changed to a Wide Glide fork and 21" wheel with the turn signals relocated to the forks. The front tire and battery were brand new. The paint job was custom - black with red flames, rear tire was in good shape, handlebars were small apes, and a Harley sports windshield was attached. Forward controls had been added and there was a nice set of leather bags. He also gave me a full face Harley helment - Harley sells the helment for $475 here. After riding the bike I decided not to sell it. So now I ride and sail when Iam not riding. I had been looking a Harley's for several months but had no idea that I would buy one sight unseen. By the way, the custom work was done by Atlanta Harley, Atlanta Ga.
I was just wondering how you stumbled upon your Dyna. .........................
Got my license in April 07 (never rode before).. Always wanted a Harley (a Heritage softail was what I thought a Harley should look like)... Rented just about everything Harley makes except the V-rod, Ultra or Sportster... Rented a 06 Wide Glide 3x and decided that was the one I wanted... Found her on ebay with all the frills in Oct of 07 with 2200 miles.. $9200 said'n'done
How I got my Dyna? I don’t really have it yet. I should bring it home today (08-14-09) or maybe tomorrow if it‘s ready. About three weeks ago, I went into the dealership just to look. I planned on buying a Dyna in a few months. When I got to the dealer I found a new old stock 2008 FXD for a smokin’ deal. I thought about it overnight and went back the next day when the dealership opened and bought it. I had the dealer send out the wheels, sprocket, extended forward controls, and drag bar to get powder coated black. So after three weeks of waiting…. I hope to get it later today. Keep your fingers crossed for me.
