Default mixing tires?

hey all,

was just wondering... i got a metz 120/70 for my front wheel, but will still be using the SE 180 for my rear.....is that okay?

...i mean, i know common wisdom is that you don't mix brands of tires, but am i heading into trouble if i do it for this season?

one of my winter mods for next year involves either lacing up a 180 for a metz 180 or simply putting a metz 170 on

any insight?

paul

I'd like to see the logic behind not mixing tire brands on a motorcycle... Generally on a car you want tires to wear out evenly on all 4. On a car with wider tires on back or on a motorcycle you can't rotate them, so I see no reason it would cause a problem. My guess would be that school of thought was started by someone who'd rather sell you two tires than one.

They work better as a set but you can mix them.

I've had an ME880 in the rear and a Dunlop up front for the last 8000 miles without issue.
