THIS IS SO AMAZING! I will be doing this VERY soon...
I also want to do my wheels to look like what I've attached below... will this appliance paint do well to do the cast wheels?
Thanks!
i did mine about 4000 miles ago and they still look like the day i did them don't mask the wheels off just use a rag with brake clean on it and wipe over spray off as you go its faster and looks better
BLAH! I got a nice coat of dirt on my forks 5 min after my last coat of paint. So do I have to wait the 7 days then recoat? Is there a simpler or quicker method? Can I clean coat it after sanding? Do I have to sand the whole thing?
mine fell after i coated them so waited till the next day sanded and re-coated seems to be fine 4000 miles later
Is there any reason you shouldn't coat your triple trees with this stuff?
Been thinking about doing mine along with the rear shocks while they are still attached to the bike. How does appliance paint hold up over time?
Has anyone else try this stuff on their trees & shocks?
I did my forwards and trees in 2012. The trees aren't holding up as well because of my roll bag sitting on top on my camping trips. But I don't think the powder coat will hold up either with the bag sitting on top.
About ready to give this a try on a night train I purchased a few weeks ago. Just to be certain, the forks should be stripped down completely through the clear coat to bare aluminum before painting. How many light coats are needed/recommened within the 30 minute time frame?

Yes. Down to bare with fine grit to make smooth.
Do light coats every 5 minutes until you've applied light coats for 30 minutes. Don't rush it. Be patient. It's the most important step.
Gave this a try and it's been a lot of messy fun, but I think I sprayed a little too much, at the wrong times, and my results are mixed - I have nice shiny gloss transitioning to more matte tones. After the 7 day wait, can I just hit this with some 1500 and 3000 wet sanding to even it out, or will I have to respray?

Thanks for the tips all!
Try rubbing compound with a foam pad. I did that and mine shined right up. I'd try that before going the wet sanding route. Or just respray them.
Just a question for the color. It looks like it's very close to the factory black that is a high gloss. Or is it closer to the frame color? Either way I see this in my bike's future as the clear is chipping away after 6 months. Was considering powder but this seems like a no brainer. I just need to find a bike stand.
