Might be a stupid question but whats the difference between this epoxy paint and regular rustoleum spray paint? Would it get the job done just the same or am I missing something?
I've used this stuff on every one of my chrome/brushed aluminum pieces.
I was also concerned about heat, so the first piece I did was my derby cover because I figured it'd be easy to sand down or just buy a new one. It held up just fine. I've also done my fuse cover, battery box, spark plug wire cover, horn cover, chain guard, rear sprocket cover, right brake pedal, rear sigs, strut covers and clutch/brake levers, everything is perfect. Just make sure it's really dry, especially parts you touch. I let the levers and brake pedal dry for 3 days, and even then they smudged. Just let it sit for a week and it holds up just as well as powdercoat (not as ultra-glossy but hey...you save a few hundred dollars). I've used two $5 cans and done every piece I want.
I woulda just sent to Joe, but shipping kills for all those parts, so this is the poor man's alternative.
well i decided to try this today on my lower legs....it was looking good but i think i got impatient....looks like i got some runs in the paint..so i guess i will have to let it cure then sand it and do it again....it WAS looking good though!
Nice work guys!! I followed Joe's thread back in 2008 and the epoxy is still holding up. A couple chips, but nothing that noticeable unless you're looking. I did new neck bearings this last summer so I painted the trees and headlight trim ring while they were all off.
not a chance man! even powder when we coat shields we make sure to go over tune aspects with the customer, this paint will not stand a chance on heat shields, will melt and make a mess.
anyone have the answer? whats different between this stuff and regular spray paint, if anything? Will I have the same results if I prime and spray gloss black with regular spray paint? thanks
