Default Handlebar replacement with stock controls - dimpled? yes or no?

If I wanted to replace my stock handlebars on my '09 lowrider but run my stock controls, will the replacement bars need to be dimpled?

You will need either dimpled or drilled for internal wiring.

Recommend getting drilled or else drilling out dimpled bars and routing the wiring internally ... although it is rather subtle, it really dresses your bike up ...

It's not that noticeable unless you park your bike next to a bike that has the wiring run on the outside of the bars ... looks so much more 'finished'

I agree

Internal wiring makes a very nice improvment in looks. I also like the looks of the fatter bars as well 1 1/4 instead of the 1 inch.

Little before and after when I did mine. Fatter bars and internal wiring.

Yes, the new bars need to be 'dimpled'... same as your current bars.

So....if I plan on running the wires internally, do I still need the bars to be dimpled? I thought the dimple in the bars was to provide clearance to allow the wires to exit the hand controls.
Thanks

Yes, you still need the bars to be dimpled. The dimple in the bars do provide clearance for the wires to exit the hand controls, the wires then inter the bars throught the hole you drill in the oppiste end of the dimple.

Here's a shot of a pair of 1" (drilled) Low Rider bars on my 08 FXDF:

Gotta love that ... a photo of the dash taken at 40 MPH ... at least it wasn't 90 MPH ...!

DUDE ... ya can't see the dimples ...

* * *

Actually, the dimples are on the lower side of the bar where the switch housings go .... it allows a space for the wiring to pass between the housing covers and the handlebars ...

If the bars are drilled, the wiring is inserted into the handlebar there ... the bottom side of the center of the handlebar then has an oval or a larger hole drilled through which the wiring is drawn and down by the neck to the frame where it plugs back in to the wiring harness ....
