I'm doing some work on my '02 Dyna which involves wiring so I've disconnected the battery. I disabled the alarm before starting but as soon as the battery was disconncted it fired off - it's very loud in my garage! I tried putting it into service mode which worked ok but about 3 hours later the damned thing started off again.
The manual tells me how to re-instate the alarm after the battery's been disconnected but not how to disable it before disconnection.........Anybody any idea please before the neighbours have an ASBO slapped on me?
My manual says approach the bike with key fob present. turn ignition switch to on. after the alarm disarms itself then you pull the battery cable. That worked for me ,but the batt. was only off for 1 hour or so. Did you try that?
HD rusty - don't tempt me, it was going a in a bucket of water this afternoon, if it hadn't gone off that's definitely where it would have ended up!
All is quiet now - thanks for all the replies guys, I wasn't aware you could get at the rechargable battery in the siren unit, there doesn't appear to be any way into it. I'll have another look but will leave it 'til tomorrow in case it kicks off again - it's 12-30 am here! I'm not too popular with my neighbours as it is - it's the Screamin' Eagle pipes that did it
I eventually got it to not go off, but not sure how I did it - just disabled the alarm as normal and pulled the neg leads - something I'd already tried several times. I've got to admit though that alarms don't like me, I've had some quite bad times with them - think I must have been a bike thief in a past life...........it's karma!
I just pull the maxi fuse, works great, you hear the alarm die off as you pull the plug. Its scary how easy it is to disarm the alarm (well, the siren at least).
