I have one of those funky visors on my headlight (which attaches to the upper tree clamp) on my 05 SG. I want to lower the light and get it of the top tree.
Before I take it all apart, maybe you guys can respond and tell me if the visor comes off and if it's doable to lower the stock light to the lower tree clamp. Thanks. A pic or two would be appreciated.
gotta buy a bottom mount light, drill the bottom tree, and yes the brow is removable. the sportster custom models come from the factory this way. they have a trim piece in place of the brow. You can install trim piece on your upper tree to have it looking clean.
Last week Headwinds had a "weekly sale" item that is a bottom mounted headlight housing. I think it's called a Bradley Bullet. Your stock lamp will fit.
It will fit on your bike if you drill the hole in the bottom tree. I think Headwinds has a "how-to" on their website for a Sporty - same thing.
You will need a 3/4" mount as well - kind of expensive on Headwinds site - but the mount can usually be had on ebay for about $10.
They also sell a bracket that covers up the mounting holes that you will be left with after brow removal.
Anyway - the headlight is $59.99. I think you will be hard pressed to find a better deal ANYWHERE. I got one and quality is outstanding.
I'm in no way affiliated with them - just wanted to pass on an exceptional deal (if it's still running).
