the burly kit will drop the bike much more than 1". If you would like to drop the bike and ave it ride like a dump truck, the burly kit is the way to go. Now if you still want a nice ride, get works performance 11 1/2" shocks for the rear. Next get a progressive drop in lowereing kit for the front. Cut the front spacer the recommended amount for 2" of drop and install a intiminator in there as well as 10wt fork oil as they recommend. you will reduce the ride by 3/4-1" around and the bike will actually ride better as well.
I recommend the Progressive 11" shocks and the new Progressive front "Drop In" Springs. I changed my suspension to the above on my FXD/WG and there must be a 300 to 500% improvement in the handling. Prior to the change my bike had been modified for the original owner who was 6'3". I'm 5'8" and the bike was to tall for me even though I had no problem with seat height.

That's good to know! I would have gone with the Burly lowering kit if I wouldn't have read that
