I have no idea what to expect so i ask those who would know, If i dropped the rear end on my Wide Glide, how does this effect handling? or does it effect the handling any?
barely have an effect. although it will depend on how you lower the bike. If you choose say 11.5" works shocks to lower it, you will get a better ride and added stability so you handling will improve although your lean angle gets reduced a little.
how do lowering blocks affect ride quality compared to using shorter springs like the 11.5s?
they change the angle of the shocks thereby reducing the spring rate. So they end up softer, most will just add 1 click of preload to em so the ride about the same as before. Of course the only ride you will get is the ride the stock shocks can give you. the angle change will have an effect on use of saddlebags.
So id be better just going with the 11.5" works shocks and skip the blocks, but i could go either way with little to no effect on handling, correct? now is that the same shocks and just change the springs? or complete change. Bear with me, im an old auto mechanic but this Harley is a learning experience. And thanks for the replies!
Jeff W,
I would not mind lowering the rear fender to decrease the space between the tire and fender but would like to keep the ride height. Is this what you are trying to achieve? Not to high jack your thread but if anyone knows how to best accomplish please PM me. Regards
