I put 8 inch bolts (grade 8) and 2 inch spacers on my Pittsburgh Jack, because I need more width on the Dyna Street Bob 2011. Don´t need any piece of wood or anything else to lift it, just put the jack under the bike and then lift it, very stable.
Thanks for the idea, just make some adjustment and this works perfect for my Bob.
I have a '13 street bob. Has anyone found the rubber kickstand bumper to be a small issue? It seems to be in the way of where I'd like the rear of the bike frame to rest on the jack. Guess I'll just have to try spacing it wider and go around it.

Yes, I put a 6 inch bolts without spacers at first time, but the left support of the jack touched the kickstand rubber, and I then decide put 8 inch bolts and spacers of 2 inch for correct this issue.
Thank you SC-Longhair for sharing your mod with all of us! I have a Softail Slim and didn't like the stock configuration of my Sears Jack. You have 2 options when lifting a softail with this type of jack: lift forward of the shocks, or lift on the shocks so I went ahead and followed your instructions and I'm very pleased with the results. See the pictures...
The Softail Slim has lowest ground clearance (stock) and I didn't have to use wooden blocks to get the jack under the scoot. As you can see from the pictures I had to remove the Craftsman pad on the AFT lift bar and placed 2 3/4 water hose from AutoZone (not my idea, read about it in some other thread. Thank you!) directly on the frame to avoid lifting from shocks.
I did this mod today - and the jack fits my '08 Fat Bob snugly but works.
FuzzyHead619's welded cross members are a sweet improvement. Alas, I don't have a welder.
I used Grade 8 6" bolts and 1/2" nylon spacers. Without the 1/2 spacers this would not clear the oil pan or the jiffy stand.
Thanks Vic for the great mod!
I got the jack on sale for $107 at Sears today, plus they were running a 5% coupon which took it down to around 101. With the Grade 8 hardware, my cost was $125 total with tax.
Ground down the "nubs" and shot it with some primer and rustoleum black.
