One difference is the Twin Cam 88 on our bikes vs. the Twin Cam 88B on the Duce. The break in period has nothing to do with it, but you will notice less vibration when moving vs. standing still. Also, it's still better than other Harley's that don't have a rubber mounted engine.
Okay sorry guys for the noob post.... let me be more specific...
The vibrations are when idle, the tach is idling about 1000 so that sounds about right.
Whether the clutch is engaged or not (neutral or holding it in, in 1st gear) the vibration is the same. Now what's weird is why it vibrates even more when I pull in the front hand brake.
The handle bars have an isolation gromet where they bolt up
to the triple tree. Your probably pulling back on the bar and
that tightens the gromet......more vibration.
Just a thought. Maybe you are not turning enough rpm in gear before shifting . I was getting bad vibration in 6th gear until one of our members told me to not go into sixth until 65mph. Started running all gear speeds higher then I had. Vibration gone.
My Dyna is starting to feel like my Sportster. Had it up to 60 in 5th gear and felt the same old vibration in the handle bars, seat, and the foot pegs. 65 or so it 6th, and the vibrations are starting to come back. Feels like a washing machine on spin. Everyone says how smooth the Dynas are with the rubber mounted engine. Not mine!! Should be broke in by now, got 4500 miles on it, and always had the vibrations.
Can't believe none of you experts has yet answered his real question. ItZnin, the reason you feel more vibes when you pull the break lever is because it stops the back-and-forth rotation of the front wheel that is absorbing most of the fork vibrations. When the wheel can no longer jump around, guess what--the FORK and everything attached to it jumps. Take a look at the brake disc rotor as you apply the hand brake and you will see it in action. Every...I mean EVERY...rubber mounted Harley behaves exactly the same.
The Deuce has no motor mounts..Its bolted directly to the frame because they have the 88b Balanced motor. Dyna is mounted to a rubber motor mount because it has the 88 unbalanced motor which gives it that classic harley shake. Most likely the vib is normal. Maybe check your mounts to see if they have broke.
[X(][X(] i have a 05 wideglide and it always has a little vibration, but last month i could tell it wasen`t normal took it to dealer and they tried to tell me tire, ect, so i showed them the front mount and sure enough it needed to be replaced, we buy dynas for the harley idle vibrations, but you will know if something is wrong, has knothing to do with breaking in
my06 dyna really vibrates more than my 06 sporty. not a problem. really gets smooth at highway speeds !!!! shakes like a sob at idle,LOL !!!! nope, you ain't gettin my bobber !!!! best dang bike i have ever owned, and i have had a sheetload of bikes thru the years . to get my bike, yoiu gotta go thru me ansd my lil frienD,.lol. mr 9M.M.
